The Evangelical Church of God in Cromer

The Church of God in Cromer meets at Chesterfield Hall and is one of a group of evangelical, Bible-based churches, established and growing in many parts of the world, all holding the same beliefs and sharing a common purpose and practices.

We believe that God loved the human race which He had created so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us, so that if we believe that, then we have our sins forgiven (see John 3:16 below). We try to follow the teachings of the New Testament about baptism and how the early churches were formed and functioned, although we would not claim to do this perfectly.

Thought for October 2026

Some of the adverts we see on TV are very repetitive and can be quite annoying, yet some of them stick in your mind. Adverts are everywhere, Posters advertising so many things. Some more important than others. I have been retired 18 years now but one poster which I saw outside a small village church when on my travels still sticks in my mind. It was in very large letters, and it said: A QUESTION FROM GOD; WILL THE ROAD YOU ARE ON GET YOU TO MY PLACE. The roads around here can at times be busy, resulting in many people going about on the streets, many of them have come from a distance, and have only come here because they wanted too, and because there was a way provided for them to do it but they still had to follow the right road to get here.

Like it or not we are all on a journey through life and one day and we don’t know when, that journey will end, but until it does, we are in control of where we end up. I am sure that we would all like to end up in heaven where God is, but the question the poster asks is one we all need to consider, are we on the right road to get there. It is true to say that there are several ways we can get to Cromer, but to get to heaven there is only one way. Jesus makes that very clear when he says “I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME” (John 14 v 6). He also makes it clear what being on the wrong road with result in. HE THAT BELIEVES IN THE SON HAS EVERLASTING LIFE AND HE THAT DOESN’T BELIEVE SHALL NOT SEE LIFE BUT THE WRATH OF GOD ABIDES ON HIM john 3 v36 If we ignore the clear directions on our map or sat-nav we are lost, the same applies here, follow the direction given and you will get there, if you don’t you won’t. So as the poster says, A QUESTION FROM GOD; WILL THE ROAD YOU ARE ON GET YOU TO MY PLACE? It’s a message we all must consider and answer and most importantly if the answer at the moment is no, please do something about it before it is too late.

God bless
